《ポーギーとベス》上演の一環で行われたジョイス・ディドナートによるアメリカの歌だけで構成したリサイタルの録音。彼女はこの時期、パリ・オペラ座で《カプレーティとモンテッキ》に主演していて、翌日も公演があるというのに、ご苦労なこってす。終盤のミュージカル・ナンバーはすきなんですが...。彼女がソンドハイムを歌うとは思いもしなかったけど、歌で演技をできない人じゃないと歌えないというか感動させられないので、演技力も定評のジョイスなので、この感動的な二曲を選ぶのは自信があってのことでしょう。
